And then a film.

Months ago, a young film maker messaged me about doing a film about our adventures, as you see them here on this blog. He didn't know whether or not I would like the idea and he did something extraordinary. He made the film almost complete to show how much he loved the story! I thought it was wonderful after watching it 16 times and told him he had my blessing 100%. Not only was he driven as an artist and film maker but he is naturally gifted in the fine art of story telling. The Film maker is Mathew Serrano.

  6. I'm a collector of screen-used horror props and totally dig what you guys were about: archiving something that you and many other people loved and documenting it for the others who were too young/unable and never had the chance to. I was lucky enough to have ridden Horizons shortly after it's debut, but not beyond what I could see from the seats. It breaks my heart to know that most of that retro furniture, full-scale models of transportation, and even that original artwork probably ended up in a trash pile somewhere. Thanks for preserving it's existence for me, it's many fans, and for being true bosses in the process.

  7. I think I was close to 9 y/o when I first rode on Horizons (1995), and when I first saw that ride I immediately fell in love with it. Each time me and my family visited Epcot I had to ride on Horizons. Being able to watch at this footage its really a gift for all of us fans of that ride. Thank you.

  9. What an amazing documentary of an incredible ride that I miss so much. It’s funny how youtube recommended that I watch this video on 1/9/19, 20 years to the day that Horizons closed forever.

  11. YouTube recommended this video to me almost the day it debuted. I watched it and was completely engulfed by the story. I was on the edge of my seat wondering if you were going to get caught. My heart broke at the end of learn of chief's passing. I immediately shared it with my nephew who is a huge Disney fan. He thought it was amazing. Last night I shared it with my husband who thought it was cool. And then I realized it was the anniversary of Horizon's closing. This video brought me to your blog and I look forward to seeing more if your videos, audio, and pictures. I already saw some older video from chief was removed from youtube. I hope there is some behind the scenes video left up somewhere or that can be reposted, I would love to see it and share it.

  12. I fell bassackward into this blog. Like many, YouTube suggested I watch the film after I started researching disney world. I lost my husband 3 years ago, so i know how consuming it is to lose one of your closest people. My heart goes out to you for that, and I think it's awesome that you have such a tribute to your guys'amazing passtime!

After watching the documentary and reading this blog I was inspired to make my own little tribute the first day using my annual pass after moving to Orlando. (I then proceeded to ride MS for the first time and almost had a panic attack haha)

All the best to you Hoot,

  18. Having been able to ride Horizons in 86’ when I was 15, it changed me forever. Living in Detroit rarely afforded me the ability to revisit the marvel. I vowed to return to Horizons, but after recovering from an auto accident it was demolished. A part of me had been taken away. Discovering info and pics and these guys on the internet years later was incredibly fulfilling. I would even “ride” a virtual version on my laptop that was created by a fan. Since then I honestly check in once a year here to get my Horizons fix. Reading about Hoot and Chief was very interesting, but this video here just blew me away. It filled in so many holes and answered so many questions.

    You are a King.

    Thank you.
