Kitchen Invaders

Since Hoot was just posting some Easy Living Kitchen goodness, I wanted to post these two goodies. Of course Hoot is on the job, scouting angles for pictures to shoot, etc... and what is ol'Chief doing? Sitting on my sorry ass, waiting for lunch or something I guess! :)

I am sure some may not like these type of shots, since we are sorta 'corrupting' the scene, but getting shots of ourselves in the scenes just added an extra layer of fun to our crazy adventures! And besides, I think we have plenty of shots without us in them to offset me posting the occasional silliness above, enjoy!

Our mother

Chief and I are from the same mother and here she is. She was very good to us growing up and we didn't want for clean jump suits or anything else. Our lunches were packed for school and we met the transport vehicle on time every day. She was loving and caring and we lead our perfect lives until.....................THEY DESTROYED NOVA CITE!

Mom's gone now. Her head rests in a storage container behind Splash Mountain and we know this because we saw it. It's hard for Chief and I but we're working through it. We walk around lake hollingsworth for hours sometimes keeping each other in check.
Dear mother.

More kitchen mess

Here the robot cooks up some eggs. The pan moved back and forth and in turn moved the robot's arm.

Ahhhhhh.......

My sweet Sunnycide:) We were married in 1997 just after this picture was taken.
Oh how I love her.

Fans of Horizons

This fan based phenomenon is the coolest thing we could have hoped for. Your thoughts, comments, fan art, and products are priceless! Your efforts make Horizons LIVE again.

Chief has been busy nailing down the video. You're about to get a flood of it from him so get your Sea Castle life vests on and secured.

May the gods of future living rain down glory on us all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Treat yourself!

This is the real deal, folks! One of our dear readers ordered this up from THE company that supplied Disney/Horizons and this bottle full is yours for the taking. One whiff and you'll float away to the groves of Mesa Verde like a magical lil bird! Your brain will perch on a branch next to a Lorange!

Go get it!

Robo Chef's face and details

It's all about the details, man!
First, it was hard to get his face because his head was spinning.
Second, It's almost 2 O'clock. Since it's dark outside I assume it was 2am which means that this art deco pad was rockin 'til the wee hours!
Third, somebody took the time to make this robot a medal!!!!! More man hours went into this than went into the entire Rockin' Roller coaster!

Bad kitchen picture

This was the only shot I had of the kitchen as of 1997. IF I were sitting here today and this was all I had to look at it would be suicide fuel for sure. Good thing I fell out of my unsafe ride vehicle.
PS- Check out the windows. A nod to Horizon's neighbor "World of Motion"? Could be.

Crystals amaze Hoot

I remember being amazed at all of the detail around me. Here I am caught up in it.

Closer even

MMMM...MMMMM...SWEET!

Here's a good one for Hector who loves the control panels throughout the ride.

On with the Crystal Lab

Here's a closer view of the control panels by request. You can also see the round tube going into granny's foot. Let's get even closer because I love that "Crystal Lab" logo!

Blown away

We'll get back to the pics and stuff tomorrow full force.

Last night Chief, Sunnycide, Charo Valdosta, and I were BLOWN AWAY by "Hadley's Hope" live, at Taste. It was incredible to say the least. The performance and style were second to none.

Just amazing! We were honored to be there:)

Thank you all so much for everything and the shirts ROCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Space Ship Earth loses a friend

The second narrator of Space Ship Earth is gone to rest. May god be with you, Walter Cronkite and may he forgive you for being a part of the animation tour movies at Disney/MGM.
WHY couldn't it have been Robin Williams???????? Why Lord?????
We'll miss you.

Hoot Almost Dies

Here is another shorty but goody! This was the night Hoot almost fell to his death in outerspace. I know Hoot will chime in with more comments and fill in some more details, but I believe his ankle has never been the same since that night. Anyhow, I for one am super glad that all turned out ok that night and my pal indeed did not fall to his death! And I like how we just continue on with our goal that night. :)

And the end of this clip is a very nice shot of the projection mechanism for the "zero-g basketball (or some sort of ball) game". I believe Kyle was asking if we had any pictures of this, and Hoot said 'no, but we have some video', and I am pretty sure this is the shot Hoot was thinking about. Enjoy!

The artist

Here's a comment from the creator of those whip ass shirts!

Ivonne R. said...
Oh my god! I can't believe the shirt I made got posted here! I feel so honored. I was just as surprised that the copyright gods didn't descend on me like I thought they would but, thankfully all is well. My boyfriend kept telling me to send you a link to my shirts, but it just didn't feel right for some reason. I guess word of mouth is even better! I'm glad that you like it.-Ivonne (SpookyBear)

I think we can all rest assured that as long as Chief and I keep posting OUR stuff one doesn't have to worry about getting busted for cool stuff like this:) They'll wack us way before they get to you.

By all means, people, send links! Links to your Horizons inspired art, products, music, writings or what have you. We all might be the last people to enjoy this shit so go ahead and share!

Ivonne, listen to your boyfriend next time:)

70th "Cool Person's" link

I hate to call the fans of Mesa Verde Times "followers" so I named your catagory "The last of the cool people". Aren't we? Aren't we the last? Hell yes we are.

Anyway, 70th cool person M S, sent me this link:

I don't know about you but I can't live without one of each! They remind me of something you would have seen at the Centorium in 1984 and I will gloriously adorn my Mid-life body with each and every design.

The world needs more of this kind of work. Thanks M S!

Weightless Chief

Chief hugs granny as Pac Man looks on.
This is a great one. Imagine if you had no interests in Epcot, never, rode Horizons, and had never been to a Disney park...........WHAT would you think was going on here?????? It would look like a guy lifting up some old lady in outer space.
Notice the speaker by Chief's foot.

70th follower

We've reached 70 followers!

Congratulations M S, an acronym that's not very hard to figure out. Nice baby hammerhead there. Small, but a struggle I'm sure. Hammerheads are plentiful in the Florida keys. Did you know that? Not my game but bull heads are. I caught a 350 pounder last May just off of Big Pine.

As 70th follower you win a bag of "gummie worms" and a 1986 guide to Epcot Center!!!!!!! Just send your address to........oh, I already have it.

Please wait 2-3 weeks for delivery as I'll be in Lisbon Ohio on vacation starting Monday evening. Just a little breather to clear things up BUT Chief will keep posting updates here at "the times" while I'm out.

More crystals

Ok this shot shows some old looking hands. Maybe she WAS old? I don't meant to go on about her age but we called her "Crystal Granny" until we got a close up look. At any rate, it's cool to see that her remote control was disk shaped. I also like to look at the costumes and see where they were seamed for ease of use.

Crystal

Here's a nice one of the "Crystal Room" tech. She came across as old when you saw her from the ride vehicle but at close range she's not. I think it's her hair style.

That logo was cool. I have better pics of it in case some nice graphics person wants to recreate it. In fact, if anyone out there is able and wants to contribute I'll post your work here. I may try my hand at it as well.

Movin' on again

Let's get out of Mesa Verde for awhile. Where should we go next? What haven't we started to cover?

Looking through my pics I've just realized that we aren't even 1/8th of the way to the end. We need to pick up the pace because at this rate we'll be finished in 2083.

Good Lord:)

Overall TV

Shot from the ride vehicle.

Think about this. How many people took this same photo? Out of those people, do you think any two got the same frame of film from the "TV"? Why is it that every pic I have has that doof with a retarded look on his face??

No bullshit

We had something special

She liked it when I sat on her lap. She also loved me in that shirt because it's the shirt Elvis wore on the cover of "Blue Hawaii". Ebay is LEGEND!

Amazing treats

Check out this kick ass scan! It's one frame of the original film strip. The background is a painting that is very different from what you saw in the ride. The Athene is close at best.
It's like something you'd see if you had a dream about Horizons. Right?
Chief and I have two complete rolls of this film. I wish we could scan the entire loop:(

TV Controls

Here's the TV control panel. In the future we'll have 28559006 channels to choose from. Pink Floyd only had 13 channels of shit on the TV to choose from.......choose from.......................choose from...

Hoot's Nephew

My nephew was just turned on to this blog. He lives down in Lakeland and his name is Tarzan Zambini.

We had hoped this blog would spark kids to learn about Horizons. It's working.

Athene Disks

There were three disks laying on the Athene. The label pictured here says 250, athene Micro Video Disk Pack, Advanced Chemistry Unit 4. Get it?
1. Athene was the goddess of wisdom in Greek Mythology. That's an easy one.
2. The subject is "Advanced Chemistry" because of the Chemistry going on between the Daughter and the Beach Boy! Amazing!
3. You would think all three disks were the same. This disk is Unit 4, the others are marked Unit 3 and Unit 2 with Unit 1 running on the computer! THEY TOOK THE TIME TO MARK ALL OF THE DISKS IN THE SERIES!
It blows me away how cool this attraction was.
Stay tuned because there's more on the athene 2500

The Athene Home Computer

This is the Athene in all it's glory. Check out the font right below that creatures back foot! I know I go on and on about detail but this little set up is an excellent example.

In the year 2083 we will have no use for big LCD monitors. A 4"x5" is all we'll need. We'll also have two disk drives for easy pirating of software! A built in lighted keyboard comes standard on the Series 2500.

The other side of the shelf

These are volumes of Family vids. I guess on the same type of video format. They have a nice collection and now I'm crying. Imagine red haired girl playing out in the groves. Her annoying little brother being a jerk and asking for ice cream................RANDOMLY! Billy Mays type dad gold brickin' while his wife works the fields.
ahhhhhhhh.......... future livin'.

Set on the left

Well here we go! I had to adjust the brightness and contrast in order to make out the labels. It seems the large screen TV plays only MA-2 discs. There are several contained in each box and these are "films/programs". T-Z and so forth.

MA-2 disks. Obviously better than Blue Ray which came almost 75 years earlier.

This is far before DVD but the minds who created Horizons knew we would watch "disk based" media in the near future. Tape would hit the highway and quick.

Wonderful detail. Yet another testament to those who created this amazing attraction.

even more details

Getting closer to these articles sandwiched between the pastel puffy wall panels. What are they?

More details

The scene, by request, without my silly ass scribblings all over it.

Holo-Girl (Part 4)

So here is the final installment of my Holo-Girl series. I believe one of these photos was already published by Hoot in an earlier post, but I decided to go ahead and post it again here in my series so they are all right here together. And even though this completes my offering of our favorite miniature animatronic, Hoot may have more pictures of her to post in the future. :)

And here, as promised is the awesome video shot that Hoot got that should once and for all help those who may still be a bit confused, as to where she was located. Feel free to rewind to about 1:15 and watch it over and over and over, I do! :) Enjoy!

Hope everyone has a fun and safe 4th of July weekend!
