SAVE HOOT GIBSON

Monday, November 2, 2009

Hey!

It's too early to announce it but it looks like an independant film will soon be made about our adventures! We've been thinking about this for a couple months and it looks like everything is coming together. Several film makers have contacted us about such a project and we think we've found the right person to pull it off.

Mesa Verde Times won't change a bit except for an update or two about the film. In fact we see this blog going on forever because we have a SHIT LOAD of material!

Thank you for the kind words Horizons fans! We'll be here to entertain you for the rest of your lives.

  2. Hoot & Chief,

Congratulations! Please tell me that there will be a fabulous premier party where all of us cool people can dress like our favorite Horizons AA. I would definitely fly in for that! :)

  3. Thank you.

We'll keep you posted for sure. We would love to see what costumes our friends could come up with. Chief and I will dress as ourselves complete with "jorts" and our original equipment.

What if the party favors were five frames of original "red head girl" film from the ride?

Fun is just around the corner.

  4. Chief seems to be quite the handy-man there in the Art Deco Future.

  5. A movie - that's cool beyond words. Could I reserve the right to be the seat filler for you guys at the Oscars when you have to get up to take a leak?

As for the party - I think I'll create some "Scent Cannon shorts". I could have a little tank in the pocket with a squeeze bulb so I can fart out orange goodness every 90 seconds just like the real thing.

  8. Guys, I made an indie feature called Livelihood (www.livelihoodmovie.com) which was recently picked up for worldwide distribution (it's on Netflix, too!). I also run a post-production company geared specifically towards low-budget indie films.

I'd love to give something back for all you've done for us Horizons fans, so let me know if you ever have any questions, want some advice, or just need an outside eye to look at the script or a rough cut or whatever.

  9. Hey, if the indie film becomes and underground sensation maybe it'll get a big-budget remake. I see it as an Oceans 11-style caper with George Clooney as Hoot Gibson, Brad Pitt as Chief, and Michael Eisner as Satan.

  13. So it this a scripted film, or more like a documentary?

I'm trying to think of how to recreate the ride "set" for the characters to jump out and play in...

  17. This is awesome...I can't wait. Sorry if everyone's seen this already, but if you have a prop budget I wouldn't hesitate to blow the whole thing on this...can't think of a better place (that still exists) to conduct the interview portions:
